The overall objective of this program is to strengthen the autonomy and economic empowerment of rural women in southern Cauca in order to ensure inclusive rural development with gender equity.

In the first phase, we increased the economic income of 700 women agricultural producers in southern Cauca through their access to productive assets and by improving the production, quality and marketing of their agricultural products. We also improved their participation in the formal labor market and the working conditions of 1,800 rural women, as well as influenced the design of public policy on care.

We provided technical training and job skills training, in-depth training on cooperativism and associativity, and psychosocial assistance to the women in the program. Through labor formalization and social security campaigns for women, we improved occupational health and safety conditions, achieved incidence and participation of women leaders in public policies, and trained women and men in gender issues and new masculinities.

After the outstanding results we had in the first phase, the European Union decided to support a second phase of this program, where, guided by the same objective, we expanded the project to new municipalities.

In this new phase, we continue our work with the women we started and include 720 new women to improve their economic income through the formalization of their land, improving their production, quality and marketing. We also provided certified training in partnership with SENA and improved the financial management of their productive units. As in the first phase, we worked on gender equality and the prevention of gender-based violence with men, women and public officials, thus supporting the promotion of care and access routes at the rural level.
