For young Venezuelans, finding a job is essential to meet their basic needs and strengthen relationships within their new communities. Despite the fact that many are educated and have professional experience, and that job opportunities exist, especially in urban centers, these young people face a series of challenges in accessing these opportunities. Such as the lack of knowledge of the Colombian labor markets, discrimination, the necessary legal documents and validated titles.
The #JovenPro program, financed by the Hilton Foundation, in partnership with the Mayor's Office of Cartagena,
Caribe Afirmativo, the Interagency Group of Mixed Migratory Flows (GIFMM),
Opción Legaland SENA, will improve the livelihoods of young refugees and migrants, to be self-sufficient in the long term, even after the program ends. Part of this program’s objective is to improve access to safe, equitable, quality and to scale, work for young Colombians and Venezuelans.
We will achieve this through a youth-centered Employment Campus to strengthen youth leadership and social inclusion. In addition, we will increase their participation in labor markets and improve their abilities to work and/or become entrepreneurs, through attractive spaces and services available to young people.
