Response to landslides, Barranquilla
Mercy Corps Colombia responded to them landslides in them neighborhoods marginalized of the city of Barranquilla delivering assistance humanitarian of emergency to 500 families. Mercy Corps executed a diagnosis participatory fast and carried out a mapping social of them areas affected to define the number of families impacted, them levels of damage, them needs immediate, grade of vulnerability, levels economic e identification of them networks social. The diagnostic findings pointed out priority families to receive aid no-alimentaria (housing kits and hygienic kits) and psycho-social care.
Mercy Corps distributed non-food items to families affected by landslides prioritized by the diagnosis: women heads of household, displaced families, ethnic groups, homes with a large number of children, elderly, and affected by critical illness. A psycho-social program supported families affected by the disaster at the family level and also at community with a preferential approach to women and youth. A plan for the relocation of families was developed through community forums and the creation of a relocation Committee composed of community leaders.
