Response to floods in Unguía, Chocó
Mercy Corps Colombia executed a response of emergency caused by the floods in the municipality of Unguía in the region of low Atrato of Chocó. The response included a diagnosis of the damage caused by the floods, and a process of distribution of materials to the affected population, coordinated with the Mayor's Office. Beneficiary families received housing kits that included mattresses, sheets, awnings, and other materials.
In coordination with the authorities local, Mercy Corps identified the families need and give it helps humanitarian in a form timely. The distribution process was supported by a disaster response Committee formed by members of the affected communities. Mercy Corps attended a total of 338 beneficiaries in 100 families. In addition, Mercy Corps facilitated the management of a plan of recovery early with those actors local.
